Welcome to the XT-002 guide from learn2playwow.com.
Summary: Boss spawns adds, if you don’t kill them… then the boss eats the adds and gets HP back up. You have to heal through Tympanic Tantrum ,and have players run away from the group when they have Gravity Bomb or Light Bomb on themselves.
Looking more closely at the encounter we see that when a player gets targeted by Gravity Bomb he has about 9 seconds to get some distance between him and raid before the bomb explodes. When the bomb explodes it deals aoe damage around the player and it also pulls in nearby raiders.
Light Bomb behaves in a similar way, except it deals damage over time, and it starts dealing damage from the moment you have on you. As with Gravity Bombs, it’s best to move away from the raid when you have the bomb on you. However, don’t move too far away, with healers spread out to avoid bombs it is easy to run yourself out of healer range.
Gravity Bombs and Light Bombs on their own are not very hard to deal with, however, since the pull area of the Gravity Bomb is a fairly large, rarely, situations may arise in which a not so careful player with Gravity Bomb on will explode and pull, along with other players, someone with Light Bomb on.
Tympanic Tantrum deals damage equal to 10% of your max health each second for 8 seconds and it is activated every 1 minute. It used to last for 12 seconds so now it’s a bit easier to survive it. If they see their health getting dangerously low during Tympanic Tantrum , players should use any self healing abilities that they have, fel healthstone or other pots.
Besides doing damage Tympanic Tantrum also dazes players, meaning they can’t really run away in time when they have bombs on. Heaving a bomb on during Tympanic Tantrum is what causes problems. Having the raid evenly spread out and at full health before it starts is recommended.
The add phase occurs every 25% of the bosses health. During the add phase XT drops down his hearth and adds spawn from the 4 corners of the room. The hearth takes double damage, and that damage then gets transferred back to XT, so it’s best to dps the hearth as much as possible , however, putting too much dps on the hearth will lead in having not enough members dealing with the adds. Also, if you kill the hearth then you activate hard mode.
There are 3 types of adds, the smallest ones, called Scrapbots, they heal XT. Medim sized, the Boombots explode when damaged. The largest, Pummelers, do little damage and should just simply be offtanked for the duration of the battle. The best way to deal with these adds is to have 1-2 ranged dps assigned to each corner.
Ranged dps can shoot down the Boombots, which upon explosion will damage nearby scrapbots, leaving just a couple of well placed aoe’s needed to finish them off. If ranged can’t finish the adds fast enough, melees should switch from XT to the adds when they see the adds getting too close. Melees should not engage the scrapbots if there are boombots still around.
Scrapbots can be slowed, stunned or snared. Thus you can have XT tanked by the stairs and then have mages with blizzard and frost nova slowing the adds from the furthest corners, this means that slowed adds will reach XT after he pulls in his hearth, so you can have more ppl. dps-ing the hearth, and once he pulls the hearth in, dps can switch back to the incoming adds.
